Why Solar-Drying Processing Services Needed Software, Not Just a Shed

MM AgroFlow Blog · 7 August 2026

Food products were never the only business. MM Rooted Ventures also runs solar-drying processing as a service — taking in fruit, vegetable or flower produce from other farmers and MSMEs and returning it dried, powdered, or malted, with white-label packaging available. The solar-drying greenhouse on our own farm does the actual drying. The part that was genuinely hard to run was everything around it.

A processing business is a scheduling business

Solar drying runs in batches, takes days, and depends on weather. Taking a processing booking over the phone works for the first few customers. It stops working the moment two farmers want the same drying slot, or a batch needs a status update and nobody wrote down when it went in.

What AgroFlow adds to a physical process

A processing booking in AgroFlow is a record like any order — who it's for, what's going in, when, and a status a customer can be messaged about without someone walking out to the drying unit to check. The task manager handles the recurring batch checks; the message sender handles the status updates. None of it changes how the drying itself works. It just means the drying isn't the only part of the service being tracked.
